Tough Economy Squeezes Ridgewood's World of Nuts
Long-time Franklin Avenue candy shop has closed, owner Debra DeSena said.

If you're looking to score some candy or nuts in the village, you're pretty much out of luck.
Just a few short months after , candy store on Franklin Avenue has also gone out of business.
Owner Debra Desena took over the two decades old candy shop in January with big plans to replace the old inventory with new products.

"Customer feedback was great, but the bigger products that I needed to take off, didn’t," she told Patch. "Squeezing through the spring, once summer came, business came to a screeching halt."
DeSena, also a realtor, said she extended hours throughout the summer and spent considerable time at the shop to galvanize consumer interest. But try as she might, the plan didn't pay off.

"Being my first retail business venture, the best business advice I got was knowing when to pull out," she said. "I guess the economy got the better of me."
