Stay Active During the Winter Break at Camp
With school out next week, here are some ideas to keep your kids active
With President's Day just around the corner, students across River Edge and Oradell will be spending the week off from school. But if you're not planning on going away, there are plenty of camps and activities to keep them active.
Master Lee's Taw Kwon Do Center is offering a five-day camp at the martial arts studio from 8:30am to 5pm. Parents can choose full-day ($65) or half-day ($35) sessions. A half-day session will run from either 8:30am to 12:30pm or 12:31pm to 5pm. The children enjoy fun, structured activities from learning tae kwon do to playing games, watching movies, or creating works of art.
Bergen Catholic head basketball coach Billy Armstrong will be leading a five-day camp at the school with Hoop Dreamz for boys and girls from grades three to nine. Athletes will receive personal instruction on their basketball skills, drills, speed, agility and games daily from 9am to 2pm in the BC gymnasium.

Patch blogger Michele Carbone even suggested a handful of camp options including heading over to the Ice House. While the skate camp is currently sold out, families can instead take advantage of open ice time on Monday from 10am to 6pm or Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 4pm.
Explore the Tenafly Nature Center and search for animal tracks or make maple syrup all while learning about the environment. Younger children in Pre-K and kindergarten can attend from either 9am to 12pm or 12:30 to 3:30pm. Older children from first through fifth grade can stay the whole day, 9am to 3:30pm. Because all of the events are held outdoors, children should be dressed appropriately.

For teens, the Oradell Public Library will present West Side Story on Friday, Feb. 24, 2pm for its Fourth Friday Film series in the lower level meeting room. Along with viewing the 1961 classic, there will be a lecture and question and answer period.
