A tractor-trailer crashed at 5:35am this morning on the Turnpike off Route 80. The cab of the truck fell into Overpeck Creek, taking driver Lawrence Scherf, 66, with it.Scherf, of Vails Gate, NY, is in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.Three state troopers found Scherf in Overpeck Creek, still conscious after the. He was flown via medical helicopter to Hackensack University Medical Center before being transferred to St. Barnabas.A second truck was reported to be involved, but <a href="http://www.northjersey.com/news/trucker-rescued-from-creek-after-tractor-trailer-crashes-in-ridgefield-1.1069447" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">those reports were not confirmed</a>.Traffic was delayed for hours along the Turnpike as the tractor trailer hung from an overpass near milepost 117.
