[Video] Brothers in Service for 95 Years

Since 1917, a member of the Mauthe family has been involved in the volunteer fire service beginning with John H. Mauthe in Hasbrouck Heights. His son Edward followed by joining the and then his son John Jr. walked those steps. Another John Jr. joined the in 2009 marking four generations spanning 95 years from start to present day where a father and son have become brothers overtime.

On Saturday before a standing room only crowd at , John H. Mauthe Jr. was sworn in as Fire Chief as ex-Chief William Sanders stepped down. Sanders was awarded his Chief's Badge from his wife Donna as well as a commendation from the Mayor and Council.

Joining Mauthe as the 2012 REFD Line Officers are Assistant Chief Gregg Cariddi, Deputy Chief Eric Schultz, Captains Jim Rush and William MacRae, First Lieutenant's Leonard Coyman and Keith Mahoney and Second Lieutenant's Alex Breuss and Timothy Faranda.
