Week Ahead: From Roofing to Pancake Breakfast

Take a look at what else is coming up this week

Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell from roofing discussions for the River Edge DPW building and Library to a pancake breakfast to raise funds for the RDHS Class of '12.

Due to Monday being Martin Luther King Day, the River Edge council will meet on Tuesday instead with a 7pm work session where architect Peter Pulice will be available to discuss future work on the DPW and Library roofs. Then at 8pm the council will have a public hearing on how to allocate the remaining Open Space funds for 2012, which is the final year of the public taxpayer funded trust account after being defeated during the November election.

Wednesday evening the River Edge Board of Education is scheduled to meet at at 7:30pm.

This Saturday, the River Dell HS Project Graduation 2012 is holding an in the high school cafeteria from 8am to 1pm.

  • Bowling is coming off a pair of wins and looks to continue that trend at Bowler City in Hackensack against Cliffside Park (Wednesday) and Bergenfield (Friday). Game times are at 4pm. 
  • It's a full week for boys' basketball with Ramsey on Tuesday (home 7pm), Dwight-Morrow on Thursday (away 7pm) and Ridgefield Park on Friday (away 7pm).
  • The Lady Hawks are on the road the bulk of this week at the Unsion City MLK tournament on Monday, 12pm against Roselle Catholic; at Ramsey on Tuesday, 4pm; and at Felician College on Sunday, 11am against Ridgefield Park. Their lone home competition is Thursday against Dwight Morrow at 4pm.
  • Demarest and Dumont come to the Ice House this week for the Golden Hawks with the Norsement on Wednesday, 3:40pm and the Huskies on Sunday, 7pm.
  • Indoor track heads into Manhattan on Sunday for the Big North Divisional competition at the Armory Track Center..
  • Swimming will again be at the Felix Festa Pool in Nanuet, NY but this time for the Bergen County meet on Saturday, 9am.
  • Undefeated wrestling heads to Westwood on Wednesday, 7pm and then to Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, 10am to take on the Aviators, Ridgefield Park and Lyndhurst/North Arlington.

Bergen Catholic

  • Swimming will get to take on the Demarest Norsemen on Thursday, 4:30pm (Lodi Boys and Girls Club) before heading to Nanuet, NY on Saturday for the County meet, 9am.
  • Bowling takes on Don Bosco at Bowler City in Hackensack (Tuesday) and Kennedy at T-Bowl Lanes in Wayne (Thursday) at 4pm this week.
  • On the court, the Crusaders hit the road to St. Joseph Regional of Montvale (Tuesday 7pm) and Paramus (Thursday 7pm).
  • Wrestling will take on tough public school teams with Paramus (home 6pm) on Wednesday, Emerson (home 7pm) on Friday and then Roxbury on Satruday (home 10am).
  • Indoor track heads to Garfield on Monday, 4pm.
  • Hockey faces a tough squad in Pascack Valley (Friday, 9:15pm) at Sports O Rama in Monsey, NY.
