Week Ahead: Science Curriculum Changes and Budget Proposals

Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell.

The River Edge Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session on Monday evening to tackle whether or not to support moving the School Board elections to November and where to place an Emergency Services Memorial for the World Trade center steel I-beam.

While the River Dell Board of Education has an 8pm meeting to discuss the science curriculum update with Tri-District Coordinator Toni Capodanno as well as the new law to move School Board elections to November.

The Oradell Mayor and Council have a 7pm public meeting on Tuesday.

The River Acoustic Band will kick off a monthly music series at the Campbell Christie House, 1201 Main Street, in River Edge,called Music at the Black Horse, on Thursday at 8pm.

On Saturday, the River Edge Board of Education will have a 9am meeting at New Bridge Center for the first reveal of the district's upcoming school budget.

The Bergen County Historical Society marks the back-to-back midwinter feasts of Brigit’s Day and Candlemas at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge on Sunday from 1 to 5pm.

Games of the week include:

River Dell

  • Bowling takes on Pascack Valley (Tuesday) and Tenafly (Thurday) at Bowler City. Game times are at 4pm. 
  • Early this season the Hawks came up all of three points short to the Indian Hills and now on Tuesday, 7pm in Oradell will get a second shot at the Braves. River Dell is away on Thursday at Mahwah, 7pm.
  • The Lady Hawks split a pair of matches this week as they head to Oakland on Tuesday at 7pm to take on Indian Hills and are then home on Thursday, 7pm against archrival Mahwah.
  • After defeating Clifton two weeks ago, the Hawks will again face the Mustangs, this time at Floyd Hall in Montclair on Friday, 5pm and then return to the Ice House on Sunday, 7pm to face Fair Lawn.
  • Indoor track heads into Manhattan for the County Relays on Wednesday, 5pm at the Armory Track Center.
  • Swimming will finish out the season this week with Fair Lawn on Monday, 5:30pm at BCC and then heads down to Rutherford on Thursday, 4:30pm.
  • Wrestling will face some of the toughest teams this week in a trio of home matches: Pascack Valley on Wednesday at 7pm; Hackensack on Friday at 7pm' and then Fair Lawn and Lodi in a dual meet on Saturday at 10am.

Bergen Catholic

  • Swimming 
  • Bowling is home twice this week with Hackensack on Monday and then St. Joseph Regional on Friday. Both games are at 4pm at Bowler City. The Crusaders head to T Bowl Lanes in Wayne on Wednesday against De Paul Catholic.
  • On the court, the Crusaders are home on Wednesday as the Paramus Catholic Spartans comes to visit at 7pm.
  • Wrestling is in Wayne on Wednesday against Passaic County Tech at 7pm. And is home on Friday at 7pm as arch rival Don Bosco comes to the mat.
  • Indoor track heads into Manhattan for the County Relays on Wednesday, 5pm at the Armory Track Center.
  • Hockey looks to reclaim their season with Kinnelon on Wednesday, 6pm at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm and then Christian Brothers Academy on Friday, 7:30pm at the Ice House.
