Week Ahead: Welcoming the First Female River Edge Police Officer

The River Edge Mayor and Council will officially welcome its two newest police officers on Monday night, including the department's first ever female officer.
Renata Sanches of North Haledon and Anthony Roman of Secaucus will both begin their one-year probationary period on Feb. 7 and make an annual starting salary of $27,500.
The council will also continue discussing the 2012 Open Space Trust Fund allocations and receive a status update on the American Legion Building adn Grove Street Satellite Location for the DPW. Ken DelPercio will be on hand to give an overview of the results from a study for a new generator for the Police Department and Borough Hall.

The evening begins with a 7pm work session followed by a regular meeting at 8pm.

- Bowling finishes out the regular season against Indian Hills at Holiday Bowl on Tuesday, 4pm.
- Boys basketball starts the week off home against Pascack Valley (Tuesday, 7pm) before taking to the road for the rest of the week. The team heads over to Tenafly on Thursday, 7pm and then is over in Lyndhurst for the Bergen Invitational Tournament on Saturday, 7:30pm. Tournament opponent to be determined.
- The Lady Hawks look to beat Pascack Valley (Tuesday, 4pm) and Tenafly (Thursday, 7pm) for a second time this season.
- Indoor track competes in the State Sectionals on Wednesday, 4pm at the Bennett Center in Toms River.
- Hockey season is winding down with a few games left and the Hawks face Ridgewood on Saturday, 2:45pm.
- Wrestling begins its N1G2 tournament run on Monday at home, 7pm against Lenape Valley. The Hawks are home on Saturday, 10am to finish out the regular season against Paramus and Wayne Valley.
Bergen Catholic
- As the second seed in the North NonPublic A state wrestling team, the Crusaders are waiting till Wednesday, 7pm to face either Delbarton (3) or Seton Hall Prep (6) in Oradell.
- On the court, the Crusaders are away on Tuesday to visit Hackensack at 7pm and then is away on Thursday to DePaul Catholic at 7pm. Bergen heads to Ramapo College at 5pm on Sunday to face Tenafly in the County Jamboree.
- Indoor track heads into Manhattan for the NJ Varsity Classes on Monday, 4:30pm at the Armory Track Center and then heads off Lou Molino Indoor Track relay at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Thursday, 4pm.
- Hockey is on the road Tuesday to face Delbarton at the Aspen Ice House in Randolph at 4:45pm.
