Youtube Channel Now Features Council Meetings
The River Edge Mayor and Council now broadcasts its meetings on Youtube
Following up on a campaign promise by the River Edge Republicans, the Mayor and Council work session and regular meetings are now available for viewing on the borough's website and own personal Youtube channel.
"This is something that Johnny [Porco], Paul [Cordts], Ed [Mingone] and I all promised while campaigning and we are glad this is something we could deliver," Councilman Alphonse Bartelloni said. "Hopefully, this will generate more interest in our meetings."
Currently three meetings are available on the borough's website for viewing by clicking on a new tab that has been created on the sidebar for residents to view the meetings without having to visit Youtube.

To create the videos, the borough purchased new equipment through the operating budget such as new microphones, a video camera and a new computer. The wall-attached camera offers a single view of the governing body.
"This is a huge step up from our cassette recording of our meetings," Bartelloni said. "We want people to have as much information as possible about what is going on."

Among the benefits of broadcasting the meetings on the borough's website and Youtube are increasing residents knowledge of their elected officials and the current issues that are discussed at the meetings. Another potential benefit is that it may lead to an increase in attendance during work sessions and regular meetings.
