1. Rain and Floods: The rain and storms continue from last night when we had a . According to the National Weather Service, there will be occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm throughout the day today. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 63. The rain and storms will continue into the night with a low tonight around 58 degrees.
2. Stuck Up: The Oceanic Bridge was opened around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening after being closed for 5 hours. The bridge was closed since 3:00 p.m. The bridge lost power when in the open position and was stuck upright for a while. The county explained in a released statement that, "bridge tenders managed to close the bascule span manually, but because there was no power to lock the pins that secure the bridge, the span had to be closed." 3. National Euro Challenge: The (RFH) Euro Challenge Team competed in the nation-wide Euro Challenge competition and advanced to the national finals where they took the third place honors. The Euro Challenge was created by the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States in 2006. The purpose of the competition is to “foster a better understanding of the strong economic and political relationship between the United States and Europe and support local learning objectives in the field of economics and finance.” Click to read more about this accomplishment.
4. Calling All Senior Artists: Monmouth County residents age 60 and over are invited to submit one piece of original, visual art in Monmouth County’s annual 2011 Senior Citizen Art Contest and Exhibition. County residents may download the completeapplication packet from the county Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com, pick up an application at the county’s Division on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans’ Services at 21 Main St., Freehold, or request a copy be mailed to them by calling 732-431-7450. 5. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge: The Dodgeball Tournament scheduled for tonight has been RESCHEDULED. Character Education is sponsoring their 2nd Annual Dodgeball tournament now on JUNE 7 starting at 7:00pm at RFH to benefit Charley's Fund. Charley is fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is cousins with Hanna and Stanley Seckler.
