What's going on in Rumson, Fair Haven and the surrounding area
Starting with Friday ...
It's not Rumson or Fair Haven, but it's close enough in miles and community camaraderie to kick off the weekend tonight.

"COME OUT & SUPPORT THE SEA BRIGHT FIRE RESCUE!!!" it says on the company's Facebook page. See you there.

And, tonight, next door in Red Bank ...
• First, Boondocks, the Hurricane Sandy-battered al fresco seafood eatery on the Navesink River is opening its made-over deck and kitchen later this afternoon at 4 p.m.
"Lobsters are here, sun is out, we are ready to go!," ownership said on the fishery's Facebook page. Check out some of the pics of the rehab in progress on the page.
The place was washed away with the Sandy tide — the only in Red Bank to take the beating, due to its unfortunate on-the-river locale. There were fundraisers to get the popular small, casual place back on its feet. And today is the day.
• Also tonight, from 5 to 10 p.m. is Red Bank's annual signature Art Walk.
From the Red Bank Art Walk Facebook page:
"Art Is Around Every Corner: 18 venues throughout Red Bank Art of every genre and description with nibbles provided at some location by various RB businesses.
(Download the Art Walk Map at www.OnlyOneRedBank.com) or pick up at any gallery — self-guided tours or artist-guided at regular intervals."
And on Saturday ...
• The PAS RFH Marching Band will hold its annual yard sale in front of Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event promises to serve up some goodies in treasures and fun.
• At 10 a.m. at Fair Haven Fields, Jeff Dement, of the American Littoral Society, will lead the Spring Tree Walk/Talk. "Join your friends and neighbors for an informative event and some fresh spring air," the Fair Haven Fields Facebook page says. "Bring a light jacket in case there are spring showers. We'll meet at the parking lot on Ridge Road."In Red Bank ...
• Navesink River Rowing will host its third open house on Saturday at 9 a.m. Activities, which are free and open to the public, will run continuously from 9 until 1 p.m., including site tours and hands-on rowing demonstrations.Click here for a full roster of information on the event at the foot of Maple Avenue, or Maple Cove, which has been revamped from Hurricane Sandy destruction.
On Sunday ...
• It's a day of free art sponsored by the R-FH National Art Society at Canvas Studio Art, 62 East Carton Street, Rumson. The free show will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's for all ages and free.
