Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation Receives Generous Donations from Two Local Organizations

The Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF) in Fair Haven received generous donations from two local organizations.

The Newcomers Club of Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver and Shrewsbury, awarded a $19,250 grant and Kick Dance Studio in Fair Haven and Rumson donated a $1,100 check. Kick danced in the name of LGEF at the Power of Dance competition in Toms River. After winning the Top Studio award, Kick donated their winning prize to the organization.

“These two gifts are especially significant to us -- two years ago when we started out, we would raise approximately $300 at an event. The support from our community in our efforts has been tremendous and we are extremely grateful,” said Tori McAndres, LGEF board member and cofounder.

The LGEF mission is to raise awareness of people and families in the Rumson-Fair Haven area that are in need of assistance. Their mission statement says, “Just as a lifeguard sits on his stand and actively searches for those in need, such is the purpose of LGEF. We meet regularly and are committed to identifying and assisting local families in need.”

“What makes us unique is that our efforts have a direct touch on our beneficiaries,” said McAndres. “Funds raised go directly to the expenses of families in need. Every little bit has helped, especially since we have seen how one bad thing can happen to a family and send their lives into a tailspin.”
