FHPD Welcomes a Home-Grown Officer to Serve the Borough

Mayor Halfacre swore Dwayne L. Reevey, Jr. into office at the council meeting on October 11, 2011.

Family, friends and the packed on Tuesday night during the to see the swearing in of Dwayne L. Reevey, Jr. as a new patrolman in the borough.

“We are very lucky to have a home-grown individual,” said Police Chief Daryl Breckenridge.

Reevey grew up in Fair Haven and attended where he was honored as a great student and athlete. He went on to Rowan University where he was the captain of the soccer and basketball teams.  “This just shows leadership building at an early age and he continues to do a good job now,” said Breckenridge.

Reevey graduated from Rowan with a degree in Criminal Justice and is currently working at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Long before Reevey decided to apply to serve Fair Haven, his family was leaving their own mark on the borough. His family has been in the area for generations and his mother, Sonia Reevey, has served on many committees over the years and is currently the president of the Senior Citizens Committee.

Reevey said that serving Fair Haven has always been a dream for him because of his strong roots and ties to the community. “I grew up here and my grandfather grew up here. My family has been in this town for over 80 years,” he said. “I am happy to be working for my town, which is a small town and a tight knit community.”

The newly hired officer is happily engaged and currently living in Red Bank with his fiancé. He says that he hopes to move back to Fair Haven when he builds his bank account and his family.

According to the chief, the addition of Reevey will not increase the staff at the , but will maintain it.  “I thank the Mayor and Council for allowing us to do that because we need to do it to continue to protect the residents of Fair Haven,” said Breckenridge.

Reevey will finish the month working for the county and will start serving Fair Haven full-time on November 7, 2011.
