Generations Come Together at Holy Cross School's Grandparents' Day in Rumson

Holy Cross Student Ambassadords welcomed their "grand" guests on October 10th.

For Grandparent Gerry Dooley, Grandparents’ Day at Holy Cross School in Rumson was also Homecoming. The Holy Cross alumnus was there to visit with his grandchildren, Isabela and Brandon of Rumson, the third generation of the family to attend the school. Dooley, also of Rumson, declared, “It’s awesome. Mr. Belluzzi [the Principal] and Father Manning are doing a phenomenal job with the school.”

Pat Herbert of Red Bank, who came to visit her grandchildren Jack, Chase and Gabe Giunta of Middletown, agreed. ”Holy Cross is absolutely a good school, more than just academically, too.” Her husband John applauded the value of faith-based education.

Holy Cross Student Ambassadors welcomed nearly 300 “grand” guests to the event on October 10th. The day began with a Mass for students and guests, followed by welcoming remarks by Principal Belluzzi. Then several groups of students performed a selection of lively songs. Classroom visits and refreshments followed the entertainment.

Dee Dee Ryan of Little Silver, whose grandsons John and Steven Pedersen recently moved to Little Silver from Chicago, was delighted to attend Grandparents’ Day for the first time. “I love it. It’s a real treat,” she said. Ann Morrissey of Brielle, visited with her grandson William Coughlin of Rumson. A “veteran” of many parents’ Days, Morrissey observed, “The children are happy here. You can see it in their faces.”
