RFH Grad Sandra Noweck Berlin, Dies at 63

Berlin was raised in Fair Haven and graduated from RFH in 1967.


Sandra N. Berlin, who grew up in Fair Haven and was a Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School graduate, died on Aug. 22 in Washington, D.C. at 63.

The cause of her death was complications from multiple myeloma, which she fought for more than nine years, according to legacy.com.

Sandra retired from the American Anthropological Association in 2006 as CFO/deputy director, having worked in finance and organizational management her entire career, the obituary added.

Born in Morristown, Sandra was raised in Mountain Lakes and Fair Haven. She graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 1967. Growing up she was active in the River Rats and loved to race and teach sailing locally, according to legacy.com.

She received a bachelor's degree in economics and German in 1972 and a master of business administration degree in 1974, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She settled in the Washington D.C. area after college and had lived in Falls Church, VA since 1987.

Sandra was known to love sailing, traveling, gardening and genealogy. She was honored by the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation for her extensive fundraising work through the Race for Research.

She is survived by: her daughter, Laura E. Berlin, of Falls Church, VA; her sister, Linda N. Patterson and husband Eugene C. Patterson, of Fair Haven: nephews, Scott J. Patterson, of NJ, and Eugene T. Patterson, of CA; and five nieces and nephews in the Washington, D.C. area.
