RFH Senior Commits to Drexel Crew
Drexel University's crew is one of the most competitive and prestigious in the country.

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) senior Kate Edwards has committed to the Drexel University Women's Rowing Team, one of the premier collegiate Division 1 programs in the country.
Sponsored by the Rumson-Fair Haven Rowing program, which is run by the Rumson Recreation Department, Edwards, who was heavily recruited by over a dozen top colleges and universities, made her commitment on Aug.12.
"The outstanding educators at RFH have really inspired me to achieve my goals," said the Drexel-bound Edwards, who is a high honors student and member of the National Honor Society.
Edwards has seven years of rowing experience under her belt.
"I started out as a coxswain when I was in fifth grade, and became a rower as I grew taller and reached my current height of five feet, 11 inches," said Edwards. "When I was an eighth grade student, I had the opportunity to accompany Rumson Crew's (Rumson-Fair Haven Rowing) first women's team to the Henley Women's Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, England."
More recently Edwards helped her team earn first place honors in the Lake Lenape Sprints, first place in the Central New Jersey Championship, and second place honors in the Cooper Cup Regatta.
Recognized as one of the most competitive crew teams in the U.S., the Drexel Women's and Men's Crew teams won the coveted Dad Vail Championship with a combined score of 45, besting Michigan, Grand Valley, and Michigan State.
The Drexel women's and men's crews will join teams from Army, Villanova, and Rutgers as they race for the Governor's Cup in the fourth annual Rumson Boat Race to be held on September 28, 2013 on the Navesink River.
Rumson-Fair Haven Rowing is an organization independent of the high school for high school students. It operates out of Victory Park, is run by the Rumson Recreation Department and supported by the boroughs of Rumson and Fair Haven.
