Rumson Pump Station Repairs Bring Call To Conserve Water Thursday

Grant Avenue pump station repairs prompt call by Rumson Borough for residents to reduce water use on Thursday.

RUMSON, NJ — The Borough is managing an "on-going" emergency sanitary sewer repair project at the Grant Avenue pump station, and is asking residents to conserve water on Thursday.

"Please conserve water use in your household on May 18 to aid in reducing sanitary sewer flows," the borough has announced.

The borough said there will be no interruption of service, but delaying use "would be of assistance."

On Sunday, May 7, borough officials from the Engineering and Public Works Departments responded to reports of a force main leak, on land, at the Grant Avenue pump station, the borough said in an earlier report.

The force main is the mainline pipe which passes sewage under the Shrewsbury River to Sea Bright and, eventually, to the treatment plant in Monmouth Beach.
