Renew Dog Licenses In Rumson
Residents who own dogs in Rumson must license their pets by the end of January. Here are the guidelines for what humans need to do.
RUMSON, NJ — During the month of January, dog owners here are required to license their dogs.
Licenses can be obtained by completing the online form found on the Borough of Rumson website.
Completed forms and payment can be mailed via USPS or dropped in the borough's drop box located in the front entrance of Borough Hall.

Here are the dog licensing requirements:
- Completed application (one for each dog)
- Veterinarian’s certificate of spaying or neutering (will be returned)
- Veterinarian’s certificate of rabies vaccination (will be returned)
Proof of a rabies vaccination must be submitted, the borough says. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the return of documents.

Make checks made payable to “Borough of Rumson.”
The licensing fee is $12 for a dog that is spayed or neutered; $15 if not spayed or neutered.

The borough notes that rabies vaccinations must not expire prior to Nov. 1, 2023. If your dog's vaccination expires before this date, your dog or dogs must get a booster before licensing.
Dog owners who have not obtained a license by Jan. 31 will be issued a summons by the Rumson Police Department, which carries a $10 fine, as well as applicable late fees.
