Severe Storms Happening Around the Area
Thunderstorms and hail expected in Rumson and Fair Haven.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement that warns of severe thunderstorms throughout the area this evening.
The statement says that scattered thunderstorms from west of Manchester Township in Ocean County to near Keyport and Hazlet in Monmouth County will move northeast at about 30 mph and off the New Jersey Coast between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
"These storms are capable of generating wind gusts to around 35 mph, small hail and dangerous clout to ground lightning," says the released statement. "If you hear thunder or see lighting, please move indoors until the storms pass."

South of Rumson and Fair Haven, tornados have touched down. Firefighters and police are responding to reports that a in Whiting and Howell this afternoon, and the storms caused a potential fatal accident on Route 571 in the Ridgeway section of Manchester, according to multiple sources. JCPL is reporting power outages in Freehold and Red Bank.
