Shooting Darts to Honor a Local Fireman and Friend

Rumson Fire Company and the Boyer Family host the 5th Annual Brian D. Boyer Memorial Dart Tournament.

Family, friends and firemen crowded Murray MacGreggor's Publik House on Feb. 26 for the 5th Annual Brian D. Boyer Memorial Dart Tournament.

"It's become a tradition, we do this every year," said Larry D'Angelo, member of the Rumson Fire Company. 16 teams of 3 competed in the "best of the worst" darts tournament. The event started at 11:00 a.m. and went well into the evening.

The event was organized by Phil Kelly of the Rumson Fire Department. "We usually get a big turn out for the tournament, but this year is the best we have seen," he said. "Most years we get 12-14 teams, but this year we got 16! It's great!"

Larry D'Angelo feels the same way. "Brian was the reason I am a part of this company," he said. "He was a great man. He took me under his wing and helped me out a lot."

Win or loose, everyone was there for the same reason, to honor Brian who had a passion for shooting darts. "Everyone gets together every year to remember him, and what better way then doing what he loved!" said D'Angelo.
