Waterway Debris Removal in Rumson

DEP gives Rumson the update on work in the area — Zone 3

The following is the NJ Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) update to Rumson on its procedure for post-Sandy waterway debris removal:

To date, debris contractor work has focused on identifying overall needs and scope through visual and side scan sonar surveys.

They have been working toward retrieving most of the floating, partially submerged, some larger and more dangerous submerged debris, and abandoned vessels.

Recently released task orders provide the debris contractors with refined direction while expanding their overall scope of work. Based upon these task orders, debris contractors have provided us with estimated schedules identifying the areas and types of work they will be performing.

The area you inquired about is currently scheduled for mid- to late May.

If under low tide you see something that should be reported, please use this number to report your sighting, the more detailed response they have, the better at cleaning up our waterways!
