Secaucus Woman Encounters Car Thieves In Her Home At 2 A.M.

This happened at 2 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Grace Avenue:

SECAUCUS, NJ — At 2 a.m. Wednesday, two men broke into a home on Grace Avenue in Secaucus, and they were confronted by a woman who lives in the home.

The resident "discovered the suspects inside her home, startled them and also called the police," said Police Chief Dennis Miller.

There is no evidence the men were armed, said the police chief.

Secaucus Police responded and saw a car fleeing the scene. Police pursued the car onto the NJ Turnpike, however, "due to the manner the vehicle was being operated, SPD lost sight of it."

The woman inside the home was not injured, and detectives are investigating.

"It appears the burglars' purpose was to steal the resident’s vehicle," said Miller.

He said he cannot answer any additional questions about this incident as it is under active investigation.
