Update On Secaucus Home Invasion On Grace Avenue

"This is happening in towns all over New Jersey," said Mayor Mike Gonnelli Thursday. "We will find them."

SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller declined to release any additional information about the home invasion that occurred Wednesday in town, where two men broke into a home on Grace Avenue at 2 a.m. and were confronted by a woman who lives in the home.

However, on Thursday — the day after the break-in — Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli said he spoke at length with the woman. He said she was rattled, but otherwise unharmed after the encounter.

The mayor also vowed "We will find them."

At 2 a.m. Wednesday, two men broke into a home on Grace Avenue. It is believed they were seeking the keys to a car, an Audi, that was parked in the driveway of the home. The men were confronted by a woman who lives in the home. She was not alone in the home at the time.

The woman "startled them and also called the police," said Miller earlier this week.

The men fled. They did not drive off in the Audi. Secaucus Police responded and saw a car fleeing the scene. Police pursued the car onto the NJ Turnpike, however, "due to the manner the vehicle was being operated, SPD lost sight of it."

"This is happening in towns all over New Jersey," said Gonnelli Thursday. "We will find them."

There is no evidence the men were armed, Chief Miller said previously.
