Residents can stop by the cooling centers at the Public Library, Senior Center, and Community center.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — With the heat index expected to cross 100 degrees in the next few days, South Brunswick has opened three cooling centers.
Here are the buildings Township residents can use to cool off during the heatwave:
- South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- South Brunswick Community Center, 124 New Rd., Monmouth Junction, 8:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Township’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has advised residents to limit the outdoor activity over the next two days. Mayor Charlie Carley encouraged residents to use air-conditioned public buildings if they need a break from the high temperatures. “Staying indoors, drinking plenty of fluids, or using one of our community buildings with air conditioning will help us get through this high heat,” Carley said in a public statement. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for most of the state that is in effect through Thursday night.
