Former Plainsboro Nuclear Research Facility Sold For $7.7M
The property on 31 Schalks Crossing Road was once the site of the nuclear reactor.

PLAINSBORO, NJ — A 50,150 square feet former nuclear facility in Plainsboro was recently sold to Princeton Life Science Park, LLC for $7.7 million.
The 31-acre property on 31 Schalks Crossing Road was once the site of the nuclear reactor.
Originally constructed in 1957, the property on 31 Schalks Crossing Road was one of several similar buildings designed to commercialize isotopes across the country.

The reactor to be permanently shut down in the late 1970s.
Following its closure, the site served as a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facility by Jacobus Pharmaceutical.

The building was sold to Princeton Life Science Park by Fennelly Associates. “While 31 Schalks Crossing Road’s historical value and recognizable features stand out in the local area, they also made attracting prospective buyers more difficult,” said Jerry Fennelly.
The new buyer also purchased the patents on the previous owner’s pharmaceutical products, its manufacturing equipment as well as retaining its previous employees.
