Hazardous Weather Outlook, Flood Watch Extended Through Tuesday Night In South Brunswick

Wet weather with scattered storms is expected to linger until mid-week, according to forecasters.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - More severe weather is expected in the South Brunswick region on Tuesday, as the forecasters have extended the hazardous weather outlook and flood watch.

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded," the National Weather Service said.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm is expected in the area after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, according to forecasters. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain.

  • Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 3 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
  • Tuesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 10 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 p.m. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Patchy fog between midnight and 1 a.m. Low around 64. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
  • Wednesday: A chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
  • Wednesday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Thursday: A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
