Storms, Flash Flooding In Forecast For South Brunswick Thursday: OEM

The Flood Watch goes into effect at 2 p.m. and lasts until 6 a.m. Friday.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick is under flood watch Thursday as widespread storms prepare to unleash rain and cause significant flash flooding, the National Weather Service said.

"Repeated downpours focused along the front through the afternoon and early evening can lead to locally significant flash flooding with a quick 2-4”+ possible," local OEM said in a Nixle alert.

Downpours is expected to peak in coverage in the late afternoon as a disturbance builds into the region. Torrential rain likely leads to areas of poor drainage and roadway flooding.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, the NWS said.

Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
