Board of Trustees: Alex Torpey to be Sworn in as Village President

Monday night’s annual organization meeting of the South Orange Board of Trustees will begin a new name on the roll. After the official results of Tuesday’s election are read aloud, by Christopher J. Durkin, Essex County Clerk.

Provisional ballots were opened, counted and verified on Thursday afternoon. The final tally of votes cast in the May 2011 Village President race is: 

Alex Torpey: 708

Janine Bauer: 694 

Re-elected trustees Deborah Davis Ford, Howard Levison, and Mark Rosner will also take the oath of office. Davis Ford received 894 votes; Levison received 879 votes; Rosner received 863 votes. A total of 81 “write in” votes were cast, as well.  (Full results from the Essex County clerk for this and other elections are here.)

The rest of the meeting is dedicated to assigning trustees to committees, to agencies, boards, and commissions.
