Catch the Photo Bug This Fall

The Adult School has options for photographers at all levels

This fall, the South-Orange-Maplewood Adult School is offering five classes for photographers of all levels: a beginning photography class, an advanced photography class, a beginning photo editing class, an intermediate photo editing class and a class that will teach you the ins and outs of managing your digital image files.

During the month of October, learn about the elements of good photography from Bob Krasner, professional corporate and event photographer, in the Adult School’s Taking Better Pictures photography class. Krasner’s lectures, slide programs and assignments will help you learn more about your digital or film camera, and he will evaluate the photos you take for class.

If you feel confident using the basic settings and presets of your camera and would like to delve into more advanced photography techniques, sign up for Bob Krasner’s advanced class, Taking Even Better Pictures. Build your camera techniques through portrait and landscape assignments during this four hour-and-a-half class held in November.

Perhaps you’d like to further develop the editing skills that are needed after the photograph has been taken. This fall, the Adult School is offering two photo editing classes, Intro to Photoshop CS5 and Intermediate Photoshop CS5 for Photographers. The first class will offer orientation to the software and teach you the basic editing skills. The second will give people already familiar with Photoshop a crash course in more advanced manipulation, from channel masking to contouring.

Finally, the Adult School is offering a new class, Managing Your Digital Images, for those who are overwhelmed with the sheer number of photos they’ve collected. Whether you store your photos online, on your computer’s hard drive, or still haven’t taken them off your camera, this class will teach you different ways to save, store and organize your digital photos.
