Updated: Eden Gourmet and Above are open for business as usual after repairs were made and the building approved by the Health Department.
On Tuesday evening, the South Orange Fire Department responded to a report of a Sprinkler Alarm Activation on the second floor of the Above/Eden Gourmet building.
There was no visible fire or smoke, so firefighters shut down the sprinkler system in the basement, replaced the activated sprinkler head and recharged the system. There was significant water damage to the second, first floors and the basement.

An investigation revealed that a single sprinkler head had activated next to an exhaust hood, due to a malfunctioning roof top exhaust motor. The malfunctioning hood exhaust allowed a build up of heat which activated the sprinkler head adjacent to the hood.
