Failed Attempts to Open a Car and Enter a House
The weekly police blotter reports on activity in South Orange

A Cameron Rd. resident reported a theft to his unlocked car late on July 26 or early on July 27. A bag of clothing valued at $60 and loose change totaling $5 was taken.
Overnight on July 27-28, a car parked on Hamilton Rd. was opened through the driver's door. Nothing is missing.
Also overnight on July 27-28, a car parked on Finlay Pl. showed evidence of tampering with the driver's side door lock. It appears that the effort to open the car failed.

On the same night, a Mosswood Ave. garage was entered when a security grate was removed. A battery-powered weed whacker and a circular saw were stolen.
On the same date, an East Orange resident reported that a bike left chained at Rite-Aid was stolen, along with a blue backpack holding a Bible and personal papers.

On July 29, an Arnold Terr. resident came home to find a screen on a first-floor window ripped from its frame and the window ajar. It appeared that no one entered the house, and nothing was missing.
The owner of a car parked in NJTransit Lot #1 reported that a GPS was stolen from her locked car on July 30.
Similarly, on Aug. 2, a car parked in lot 11 was burglarized. A GPS and $350 were taken. Evidence suggests that the front passenger window was broken with a rock, which also caused damage to the car.
