
On May 10, at 9:15 p.m., two victims were robbed at gunpoint while sitting in their car parked on Holland Road. The victims stated that three African-American men dressed in all black approached their vehicle, brandished a black handgun and demanded their property. The victims turned over their property which consisted of wallets, phones and jewelry. The three men fled on foot north on Holland Road then east into Newark.
A Fairview Avenue resident said sometime between May 7 and May 10 someone damaged the lock on the back door of her residence. The victim also said a rear window screen had been pulled from its frame and that this is the second type of incident had occurred in the past two months.
A Riggs Place resident said sometime during the overnight hours of May 8 someone entered her unlocked vehicle and removed two pairs of designer sunglasses valued at $500.
A contracting company based in Landing N.J. said sometime between April 7 and April 27, someone stole a 2005 Caterpillar Excavator valued at $30,000 from the yard of an Overhill Road residence.
Joseph Council, 48, of Newark , was arrested on May 9 after an investigation revealed he was responsible for committing a burglary and theft from an office located at 76 S.Orange Ave. on April 20.
A Fielding Court resident said sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on May 8, someone entered her residence via an unlocked rear door. Articles of jewelry were stolen.
A Charlton Avenue resident said sometime during the overnight hours of May 3, someone smashed the passenger side door window then damaged the ignition to her 1995 Nissan in an attempt to steal it.
A South Orange resident said he had locked his bicycle to the bike rack at the main train station on May 4 and when he returned to it on May 7 he discovered it had been stolen. The bicycle is a men's green Trek Mountain style.
