Karriem, Wren-Hardin and Gaudelli Win Board of Education Election

Incumbents are re-elected; one newcomer joins the board

Two incumbents retain seats and one newcomer joins them on the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.  Sandra Karriem and Andrea Wren-Hardin were re-elected and Bill Gaudelli was elected in Wednesday’s Board of Education election. Their new three-year terms begin with the May reorganization meeting of the Board of Education.

Results came in quickly after polls closed at 9 p.m.  Numbers  tallied on the Essex County Clerk’s website, showed results as follows:

      Vote Count Percent - Andrea WREN-HARDIN 1,778 24.31% - James LoSTUTO 936 12.80% - Marian CUTLER 1,097 15.00% - Sandra KARRIEM 1,702 23.27% - William GAUDELLI 1,783 24.37% Write-In 19 0.26% Total 7,315 100.00%

 

Gaudelli was elected to the seat previously held by Richard Laine, who chose not to run again. Karriem has been on the board since 2007.  She ran on a slate with Wren-Hardin, who is returning for her third term.
