Letter to the Editor: In Support of Deborah Davis Ford

A local business owner lauds her work on the University Engagement Committee

As the chairperson of University Engagement, I have the privilege of working with several trustees, but most frequently with Deborah Davis Ford.  She has been active in supporting our efforts to make South Orange a more student-friendly town.  Not only has she consistently made suggestions, help tweak our ideas, she has been a great advocate of actions to make this a better place for all of us to live.  She actively participated in our committee meetings. I believe South Orange is a better place for the tremulous efforts that Deborah Davis Ford contributes to our town. It is without reservation that I endorse her re-election efforts.

The University Engagement Committee is part of the South Orange /Seton Hall Partnership.  We were formed 2 1/2 years ago by an act of the trustees and charged with getting more students off campus and into town.  Since our inception, we have spear headed the Community Cup, an Ultimate Frisbee game which takes place on University day, signage declaring South Orange Village the home  of Seton Hall, a "Go Fly a Kite event,"  distribution of The Setonian around town, and much more.
