Newark's Hidden Treasures Revealed
The Newark History Society's next program, "Uncovering Newark's Hidden Treasures: The Newark Archives Project," will take place on Monday, March 26

The Newark History Society's next program, “Uncovering Newark’s Hidden Treasures: The Newark Archives Project,” will take place on Monday, March 26 at 6:00 pm at the New Jersey Historical Society, 52 Park Place in Newark.
Gail Malmgreen, PhD, will give an illustrated talk about the remarkable collections she has reviewed as director of the Newark Archives Project. These collections cover the full range of Newark’s history, from minutes of 17th century town meetings to World War I military records to women’s suffrage collections to documents on urban renewal in the 1960s to photographs of daily life through the decades. The Society launched the Newark Archives Project a couple years ago with the aim of developing an on-line guide to primary materials about Newark’s almost 350-year history — the first searchable online database created for the history of a single city.
The talk is free and open to the public. RSVP or learn more at NewarkHistorySociety@verizon.net or by calling 973 376-8273
