Unlocked cars see theft

A 16-year-old resident and a friend were robbed on August 13 at approximately 9:22 p.m. as they walked on So. Ridgewood Rd.  The victims stated that two black males, approximately 20 years of age, approached them from the rear and ordered them to turn over their property. The actors told the victims they had guns. The actors stole 18 dollars in cash and two Blackberry Phones. The actors were last seen fleeing on foot. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident. 

A Tillou Rd. resident stated that someon entered her unlocked vehicle and removed miscellaneous items at night on August 15.

Alsomod Brown, a 20-year-old Orange resident, was arrested during the early morning hours of August 15, after he fled the scene of numerous auto burglaries on the west side of town. A resident of Tillou Rd. heard a car alarm sounding and when he looked out his window he discovered the subject running away. The police arrived on the scene and after a foot pursuit through several yards the subject was taken into custody. Located at the scene were items believed to be proceeds from numerous such vehicle burglaries. The matter is still under investigation by the Detective Bureau at this time.

A Varsity Rd. resident stated that he was walking in the area of Varsity Rd. and Reynolds Pl. on August 11, at approximately 11:00 pm when he was robbed after being assaulted by three black males. The victim stated that the actors attempted to get his cell phone but was able to fight them off. All of the actors are believed to be approximately 20 years of age. The matter is being investigated.

On August 11, a 16-year-old South Orange resident was walking with two friends along Academy St. at 11:45 p.m. when they were robbed by four black males. The victim stated that one of the actors exited a vehicle and and ordered the victims to turn over what was in their pockets. Afterwards the actors fled the area in a Grey Dodge Charger. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

A Riggs Pl. resident stated that sometime between August 11 and 15, someone burglarized his home by forcing open his front door. Two Dell laptop computers were removed from his living room. The detective bureau is investigating the incident. 

A South Orange resident reported the theft of his Fit Brand 24 inch BMX bike from the train station on August 11.

A West Orange resident stated that sometime between 11:00 am and 12:15 pm on August 14, someone smashed the driver's side window to her vehicle and removed a Garmin GPS system while it was parked behind the Middle School.

A 20-year-old Islip, New York was walking east on South Orange Ave. in the area of University Ct. when he was assaulted by a group of young black males on August 14 at approximately 12:42 am. The victim reported that he was followed by one assailant, when others jumped out from behind bushes and began assaulting him. The victim's front teeth were knocked out. The matter is being investigated.

On August 8, a Charlton Rd. resident reported that $30 in change was removed from her unlocked car.

A Raymond Ave. resident reported that someone removed his Apple I Phone from his unlocked car on August 5.

A Kilburn Pl. resident stated that sometime during the early morning hours of August 6, approximately $500 in cash was stolen from her unlocked car.

A Charlton Rd resident reported that numerous items, including a 42 inch Flat screen T.V. were stolen from his home. His 2008 Saturn, parked in the driveway, was also stolen. SOPD detectives recovered the stolen vehicle in Orange. The investigation is continuing.

A Stanhope N.J. resident stated that sometime between 11:00 pm and 11:45 pm on August 6 that someone attempted to steal his 2003 Jeep Liberty by breaking the passenger side window and then damaging the steering column. The vehicle was parked at the intersection of Wilden Pl. and Eder Terr.

On August 5, a Turrell Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours someone removed some loose change and an IPOD charger from his unlocked car.

A Kingman Rd. resident stated that  during the daytime hours of August 6 that someone forced open a porch door located at the side of her home,and removed a change jar from the kitchen area and a HP laptop computer from a first floor office. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
