Power and Normal Life Return...Slowly

Power is returning to South Orange and beyond. PSE&G spokesperson Bonnie Sheppard reports fewer than 9000 outages around the county; an updated breakdown by town is not yet available.

She further notes: 750,000 people were affected by power outages over the weekend. More than 90 percent of those people have had power restored. As of around 4 p.m. Tuesday, 74,000 people across the state are still without electricity. This is down from 85,000 people without power reported by PSEG at 12:30 p.m.

Water in South Orange is fine for drinking and all other purposes.

Yard debris such as branches belongs on the curbs. It will be picked up by the DPW.

NJ Transit is near normal schedule.

The South Mountain Y will be open tomorrow.

Downtown businesses are open.

Streets are being reopened today, as trees are cleared.

The pool is open.
