South Orange's Garden View

A mid-season visit to the Community Garden reveals a bumper crop

On a recent Tuesday afternoon, when Patch visited the Community Garden, the 3rd Street site was empty and quiet. A bold groundhog nosed hopefully around the fence, and no wonder: the garden's flowers, vegetables and herbs are flourishing. In the heat of the summer sun, this writer could smell the basil from several feet away, and I suspect that tomatoes will be on the menu for many South Orange households in coming weeks.

The photos include a few "before" images, from early spring's setup, a link to Village Gardener Katie Payne's story and photos from July, as well as a view of the garden this week.

Enjoy the photos and please add your own.
