South Orange's Seton Hall U. Makes U.S. News' Best Colleges List

Seton Hall University was ranked among the best 140 schools in the United States by U.S. News & World Report for 2020.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Seton Hall University in South Orange was named to U.S. News & World Report's 2020 best colleges list, which was released Monday.

For the 2020 rankings, U.S. News & World Report made some changes to help prospective students with their college search. A new set of rankings looks at the top performers in social mobility, evaluating which schools best serve underrepresented students. The 2020 methodology also factors in which schools support first-generation college students through graduation.

Nine New Jersey colleges were named to the list. Seton Hall was ranked No. 139. The school offers more than 60 majors in eight schools, and whose law school has a "very highly ranked health care law program," U.S. News & World Report said in its write up of Seton Hall.

New Jersey's Princeton University was ranked the No. 1 college in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. Harvard University was ranked No. 2. Rutgers University-New Brunswick was the next highest nationally ranked New Jersey institution at No. 62.
