Spate of Car Break-Ins and an Arrest

A look at recent police activity

A juvenile was arrested on June 6 after officers responded to a call on Montague Pl. that unknown actors were entering a vehicle. Officers discovered the juvenile hiding in bushes and as a result was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged for the incident including a charge for possession of burglary tools.

A victim stated that he had parked his car at 76 South Orange Ave. on June 3. When he returned on June 6, he discovered someone had entered the car and rummaged through the glove box. No items were reported stolen.

A victim stated that on June 6 at approximately 7:45am he had parked his vehicle on Vose Ave in the area of Mountain station and when he returned to it at 6:30pm he discovered that someone had broken into it and removed the car radio.

A Harding Dr. resident stated that on June 7, at approximately 5:25am, she observed two black males exit a silver vehicle and walk up the driveway and enter her unlocked vehicle. Officers responding to the call observed a silver Acura occupied by two black males one with dreadlocks and both believed to be in their 20's fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen traveling at excessive speeds east on Irvington Ave. into the City of Newark. 

Sometime during the overnight hours of June 5 a Garfield Pl. resident had his GPS unit removed from his vehicle which was parked in his driveway. The victim learned of the theft when a back pack containing his stolen item was found in a rear yard of a Tichenor Ave. residence.
