School District Issues Heat Advisory

Superintendent Brian Osborne issued a warning for students in the South Orange-Maplewood School District for Thursday, June 9.

With Thursday's temperatures expected to reach nearly 100 degrees, the South Orange - Maplewood School District has issued a heat advisory but has not cancelled or cut short the day.

According to an email sent on Wednesday afternoon by Superintendent Brian Osborne, students will have a normal school day. The email reads:

The district will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow, June 9, when temperatures are expected to rise again.  We ask all staff to limit physical activities for students and to ensure that students remain hydrated.  Students may bring recyclable or plastic water bottles to school tomorrow (no glass, please).  Parents may sign their children out if conditions pose individual concerns.
