As usual, we have some truly wonderful live music events with Gregory Burrus Productions for November 2024.

Heres a few highlights for the month.

3rd Annual James Moody Scholars Jam

Join us for a special evening as James Moody scholarship winners from each year since 2015 come together to jam on stage for the 3rd year in a row. Come experience the magic of jazz improvisation as we continue to honor the legacy of Saxophonist James Moody at Clements Place Jazz venue on Nov 6, 2024 at 7 PM.

Jazz Vespers at Bethany at 25 / Honoring Reverend Howard and Dorthaan Kirk

Celebrate 25 years of the Bethany Baptist Jazz Vespers Concert Series with music director and bandleader Nat Adderley Jr., jazz trumpeter and conductor Jon Faddis, jazz vocalist Vanessa Rubin and jazz/gospel singer Lizz Wright. We’ll also honor Rev. M. William Howard, Jr., who co-founded Jazz Vespers with Newark’s First Lady of Jazz, NEA Jazz Master Dorthaan Kirk (WGBO).

NJPAC Jazz Jam

Join us at our monthly Jazz Jam Sessions, featuring top-flight NJ musicians directed by pianist and bandleader, James Austin, Jr. This 10 month series, from September 2022-June 2023 is co-presented by NJPAC’s Jazz Advisory Committee and Rutgers RU_N’s Institute for Jazz Studies. Immerse yourself in the relaxing sounds of jazz music that stimulate the player’s and listeners’ minds.

Jesus and Jazz

Jesus and Jazz is an inspirational Sunday morning session at Mount Zion AME Church located in Milburn, NJ! This is a unique opportunity to experience the fusion of faith and jazz in a spiritually enriching environment. Every 4th Sunday of the month, under the engaging direction of pianist Phillip Bingham, this MZAME family friendly and uplifting Jesus and Jazz Session comes together led Rev. Eyesha Marable and Jazz Ambassador Gregory Burrus. Jesus and Jazz attendees enjoy great live music, wonderful melodies, meditative moments, and very helpful mental health messages. Located at 56 Church Street, Millburn, NJ 07041, all are invited.

South Orange Giants of Jazz

What better way o close out the month of November than an All Star Jazz Bash. Join us for the 25th Anniversary of what has become a legendary South Orange event featuring the convergence of countless master practitioners in an unforgettable evening of spontaneity and swing. Curated by Grammy Award-winning producer and bass player, South Orange resident John Lee, Giants of Jazz delights audiences of every generation.

To commemorate 25 years of this iconic series, SOPAC honors one of the music’s most recorded artists: master drummer and Grammy Award-winning band leader Lewis Nash. in addition this year’s lineup features Eric Alexander, Don Braden, Tommy Campbell, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Davis, John DiMartino, Dezron Douglas, Roberta Gambarini, Winard Harper, Freddie Hendrix, Mike LeDonne, Rufus Reid, Evan Sherman, Buster Williams, and more incredible artists announcing soon!

13th Annual TD Moody jazz Festival 2024

It’s all in the mix. Whatever jazz means to you, you’ll find it at NJPAC. Does it mean the American Songbook, or the rhythms of salsa? Maybe contemporary jazz is more your style? This November, we celebrate all the sounds of jazz.
