Valley St. Robbery; Arrests for Alcohol and Drug Paraphernalia

A look at recent police activity

*Ian Duncan, 19, an Illinois resident and Seton Hall University student, was arrested on May 5 after an investigation conducted by Seton Hall University's security personnel along with South Orange detectives revealed he had drug paraphernalia on campus.

*Tashmire Ward, 19, of Newark was arrested on May 5 after she was seen exiting a liquor store on Valley St. with alcoholic beverages.


*A Valley Street resident said on May 3 at approximately 11:30 p.m. he was assaulted as he attempted to enter his apartment. The victim was approached from behind in the hallway. The suspect hit hit the victim around the face and head, demanding money while doing so. The victim said the suspect also struck his wife as she tried to help.

The suspect is described as a African-American man with dreadlocks, unshaven, approximately 18-25 years of age, 5’11” and was seen wearing a a black tank top and dark colored pants. The victim also said he believes he may have fled the area in a white two- door vehicle.

* Troy Jackson,  48, of Newark, was arrested on May 3 on Sloan Street after an officer patrolling the area recognized him and was aware of the outstanding warrant issued for his arrest.
