Deadline: Debris Removal and Demolition Requests Due By April 5
Form can be completed online or picked up at town hall

Homeowners who want to take part in Toms River's debris removal and demolition program must submit their applications by April 5.
Many residents are already struggling financially following Sandy, so Toms River has worked out a plan with FEMA to demolish those structures at no cost to the owner. About 280 homes in Toms River need to be demolished, according to township Business Administrator Paul Shives.
Homeowners interested in taking part in the program are asked to fill out an online form. Then, an information package will be mailed to them. Forms can also be picked up on the second floor of town hall, 33 Washington St.

Only homes that have had structural damage qualify for the demolition, according to the township.
"Structural damage is any damage that has comprised the structural soundness of the building, which may or may not include damage to the foundation, exterior walls, load baring walls, beams, and roof support system," the township said in a statement. "Any home that is not clearly visible to have structural damage from the street requires a structural engineer report and the homeowner is responsible for hiring an engineer to provide such report."
