Hooded Burglar Confronted By Son: Bloomingdale Police Blotter

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Bloomingdale Police made several arrests and conducted investigations between March 3 and March 9, including for a burglary from a home. You can read about that recent police activity, as written by police, here:

On 3/3/19 at 09:31 hours, Ptl. Robert Grabowski responded to a residence on Pleasantview Avenue. The resident advised Ptl. Grabowski that earlier in the morning, an unknown male had come to a rear door and entered the residence uninvited. The resident's son confronted the unknown male who suddenly fled back out the rear door. The only description provided was that the male was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. At this time, nothing was reported to have been taken from the residence. Det. Steven Smith is handling the followup investigation.

On 3/4/19 at 07:05 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Main Street which had been traveling at a high rate of speed. Ptl. Zeidan followed the vehicle into Butler during which time the vehicle both slowed down, but suddenly sped back up. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Keil Avenue in Butler. In speaking to the sole occupant, Joey Gerald (32) of Butler, Ptl. Zeidan learned that Gerald's driver's license was suspended. Gerald was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. He was charged with eluding a police officer, speeding, reckless driving, driving while suspended and several additional motor vehicle summonses. He was released pending his court date. Ptl. Kevin Peirsel assisted with the arrest.

On 3/5/19 at 08:05 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan stopped a motor vehicle on Fichter Street. In speaking with the driver, Julio Lopez (52) of Fairview, Ptl. Zeidan learned that his license was suspended. Further investigation revealed an outstanding warrant out of North Bergen for Lopez. He was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was charged with driving while suspended and several additional motor vehicle summonses. Lopez was able to post bail. He was released pending his court date.

On 3/9/19 at 16:10 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street. After initially speaking to the driver, Ptl. Zeidan spoke with the passengers, Tahsir Harry (25) of Maplewood and Milfort Barthelemy (24) of Irvington. Ptl. Zeidan observed signs of C.D.S. usage and a search of Harry yielded a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana. He was placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed an outstanding warrant for Barthelemy out of Irvington and he was also placed under arrest. Both were transported to headquarters for processing. At headquarters, a further search of Harry yielded several additional plastic bags of suspected marijuana along with several empty bags. He was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of C.D.S. with intent to distribute and failure to surrender C.D.S. to police. Harry was transported to Passaic County Jail. Irvington Police Department was contacted and responded to take custody of Barthelemy. Sgt. David Terpstra and Det. Steven Smith assisted with the arrest.
