Cedar Grove Police Announce 2016 Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Cedar Grove Police Department will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Cedar Grove Police Department will act as a local collection site for an upcoming National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this coming Saturday, October 22, 2016 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Municipal Building at 525 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove. This initiative, open to all residents, was organized to encourage citizens to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted and expired medicine.

Residents may dispose of medicines in either its original container or by removing medication from its container and disposing directly into the drug disposal box. If the original container is submitted, please remove the prescription label if it contains any personal identifying information. Liquid products, such as cough medicine, should remained sealed in its original container. The program is anonymous and no questions or requests for identification will be made. Please remember that syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.

This statewide effort, with many New Jersey Police Departments participating, is being spearheaded by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
