Cedar Grove Police Busy With Traffic Stops, Arrests

May 23: Cedar Grove police have arrested 35-year-old Michael A. Paolercio of West Orange for driving with a suspended license following a 1:49 a.m. traffic stop. Paolercio was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 23: Cedar Grove police were forced to destroy an injured deer at 4:10 p.m. after discovering the animal in the roadway in the area of Pompton Avenue and Mountain Ridge Drive. Police believe a driver, who left the scene, hit the animal.

May 23:  Cedar Grove police have arrested 25-year-old Barry L. Benefield Jr. of East Orange for driving with a suspended license and for an outstanding traffic warrant following a traffic stop at 11:23 p.m. Benefield was processed and released pending municipal court appearances in both Cedar Grove and Springfield.

May 24: Cedar Grove police have arrested 27-year-old Christian C. Nwigwe of Maplewood for driving with a suspended license following a 2:09 a.m. traffic stop. Nwigwe was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 25: Cedar Grove police have arrested 55-year-old Alfredo R. Barahona of West New York for operating an unregistered motor vehicle with a suspended license following a 2:12 a.m. traffic stop. Barahona was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 25: Cedar Grove police have arrested 28-year-old Miguel Mauricio of Passaic for driving with an expired and suspended license at 1:46 p.m. following a one-car on Pompton Avenue.

Mauricio told police he was talking on his cell phone and was distracted when his 2000 Chevy left the road, struck and damaged a retaining wall, a utility pole and finally a fire hydrant before stopping.

Mauricio was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 26: Cedar Grove police arrested 41-year-old Duncan F. Graham of Covington, La. at 7:53 p.m. for driving an unregistered and uninsured car with a suspended California registration. In addition, Graham’s car was impounded. He was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 27: Cedar Grove police arrested 20-year-old Denis Romanushko of Morris Plains at 10:58 p.m. for driving an uninsured 2002 Honda with a suspended New Jersey registration. In addition, Romanushko’s car was impounded. He was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 28: Cedar Grove police arrested 41-year-old Seth M. Gunar of Mahwah at 3:27 a.m. for driving with an expired and suspended license and for an outstanding traffic warrant from Paramus. Gunar was processed and released after posting bail.
