Essex County To Hold Free Computer, Electronics Recycling Event
Got old computer or electronic gear you've been looking to get rid of? Here's your chance, Essex County.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Got old computer or electronic gear you’ve been looking to get rid of? Essex County residents will get the chance to dispose of it – safely and responsibly – at a recycling event on Saturday, May 17.
The Essex County Computer and Electronics Recycling Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Works building (Fleet Management), 99 West Bradford Avenue in Cedar Grove.
Items being accepted at the event include computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, telecom equipment, speakers, televisions, keyboards, main frames, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, toasters, irons and cellular telephones.

Items that will not be accepted include smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.
The event is open to all Essex County residents. Residents are not charged when they bring materials, but they must provide proof of residency at the site. Commercial businesses may not drop off materials.

“Recycling computer hardware and electronic devices helps remove lead and other dangerous chemicals from our waste stream, which is important for us and our children,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.
“With your participation, we can do our part to protect the environment,” he added.
