Essex County Prosecutor's Office Hosts All-Girl Conference
More than 200 female high school students expected at Thursday workshop in recognition of Women's History Month.

More than 200 female high school students are expected to attend the “We Run the World!” youth conference on Thursday, March 14 in recognition of Women’s History Month, officials at the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.
The goal of the one-day summit at the Essex County Police Academy in Cedar Grove and hosted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, is to inspire and empower the students to reach their goals and learn about community resources, acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said in a press release.
The event will feature motivational speak and former Star-Ledger reporter Caryl Lucas, who will deliver the keynote address focusing on “Girls Rule the World!”: Seven Rules for a Healthy Self Esteem, Healthy Choices & Healthy Friends, officials said.

The conference will also feature workshops on how violent crimes impact lives, the dangers of online predators, teen dating and health and positive body image for confidence and self esteem.
Local colleges, universities, hospitals and social service agencies will have information tables at the event.

The youth conference will begin at 9 a.m. with a welcoming speech by Murray and conclude at 2 p.m.
The Essex County College Police Academy is located at 250 Grove Ave. in Cedar Grove.
