F.N. Brown Students Tour State Capitol
Trip to Trenton included Visitor's Center, statehouse, state Senate and Assembly chambers.
Fourth-graders at the F.N. Brown Elementary School in Verona recently visited Trenton as part of their social studies unit on New Jersey government.
Students explored the Visitor's Center, where they found many exhibits including one in which they followed a ball through a maze that simulates the process a bill goes through to become law.
Next they toured the Statehouse, including the governor's office, the state Senate and Assembly. They even participated in a mock election for Governor.
Not surprisingly, outlawing homework was a very popular bill and platform for running for governor.
The students had a lot of fun and learned even more on the trip, which was sponsored by the Verona Board of Education and the F. N. Brown SCA.
