How Much State Aid For Verona-Cedar Grove Schools? NJ Releases Totals

Some school districts will see more state aid, others will lose funding. Here are the 2025-2026 numbers for Verona and Cedar Grove.

VERONA-CEDAR GROVE, NJ — The public school districts in Verona and Cedar Grove will see a bump in funding under the proposed New Jersey state budget.

Here's how that breaks down in Verona and Cedar Grove:

  • The Verona Public School District is in line to get $3,072,262 in state aid: a 6 percent increase from last year’s $2,898,360
  • The Cedar Grove Public School District is in line to get $2,385,574 in state aid: a 5.37 percent increase from last year’s $2,263,969

Property taxes in New Jersey are mainly made up of three parts: school, municipal and county. Experts say that a decrease in school aid – or even a flat number – can trigger an increase in taxes for a town’s homeowners.

Essex County will be getting a combined 5.26 percent hike to state aid next year – more than every other county in New Jersey except Salem (5.59 percent). That increase isn’t shared evenly, however – with several local districts losing state funding. See the full chart here.
